Niles North’s very own competitive dance team, Vikettes, will be competing in the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) dance competition on Saturday, January 23 at Rolling Meadows High School. The Vikettes will be competing against numerous dance teams under the 3A sectional division in the hopes of qualifying for IHSA state finals.
“Regardless of whether or not we qualify for state this year, I am incredibly proud of all we have accomplished. We have worked so hard and have truly impressed our peers, coaches, and ourselves,” senior Erica Biagini said.
Under the 3A sectional division, there will be 15 high school teams competing for the top six teams in order to qualify for state, including Loyola Academy, Niles West High School, Maine South, Evanston Township High School, and many more.
The Vikettes have accomplished a tremendous amount of rewards and placings, gaining the team an overwhelming wave of recognition and grand representation for Niles North’s dance community. Just this year, they’ve placed 2nd out of seven teams at the Bremen High School IHSA invitational, and 7th out of eighteen teams at the Andrews High School IHSA invitational.
“We are all extremely confident with this Saturday’s competition but our goal isn’t to just make it to state. It’s to just go out there and dance our hearts out on the dance floor,” junior Jibran Umrani said.
Come out and support the Niles North Vikettes and witness all the incredible talent this Saturday, January 23 at Rolling Meadows High School for just $5. The 3A sectional division will start promptly at 12 p.m.
