Whether he is disguising himself as a teenage doctor on Doogie Howser M.D. or using his playbook to capture the hearts of all women across New York City, Neil Patrick Harris is a class act. On his new variety series, Best Time Ever, starting this fall on NBC, the entertainer sings, dances, performs stunts, competes against celebrities, and finds unique ways to surprise unsuspecting audience members each week.
This is all a mix of what the actor does best- being the go-to awards show host with the dash of casual aroma of a standard daytime show, all combined with the unexpected danger of being live. Harris is doing his absolute best to make sure the audience enjoys, whether they are watching at home or in studio seeing all the magic happen live.
“I like the premise of the show and I admire how he keeps the audience in mind with all the programs, because he wants them to be entertained at all times. Most television hosts don’t care that much,” Jazmyn Trinos, senior, said.
Inspired by the hit British variety series, Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, this show may seem unfamiliar to many U.S. fans. Harris also said that it’s been exciting watching viewers get familiar with his new segments, like Sing-along Live, End of Show Show, and Undercover.
Already, the fan favorite segments have been Voices In Your Head and Neil Versus. In the first, Harris had recruited starlets Britney Spears and former How I Met Your Mother co-star, Cobie Smulders, to prank a random assort of victims. For Neil Versus, Harris challenged celebrities to a variety of challenges including flying in mid-air and others. Harris’ show is all about people having a good time and nature towards it.
“I loved seeing Neil Patrick Harris as Barney on How I Met Your Mother so I’m excited to see how he’ll host this show. He’s one of my favorite actors so I’m positive he’ll do an amazing job,” Tahir Razzaq, senior, said.
Best Time Ever will air live sometime in 2015 on NBC – and it’s sure to be legen… wait for it…. dary!
