Just in time for Halloween season to kick in, FX officially released the much-anticipated season premiere of American Horror Story: Hotel (AHS) Wednesday night. Directors Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk leave audiences with spine-tingling, hair-raising reactions as they bring on the gore this season. (*SPOILER ALERTS AHEAD*).
AHS: Hotel’s premise focuses on the terrors and serial murders committed by the “10 Commandments Killer” of the numerous guests who stay at the rundown Hotel Cortez. Raising much suspicion, LAPD Detective John Lowe (played by Wes Bentley) begins to investigate the string of murders as he’s lured to Hotel Cortez by a mysterious phone call. Not only is the “10 Commandments Killer” harming the lives of the hotel’s guests, but is strangely interested in Lowe’s personal life and threatens to harm his family.
“I love this new season so much because it was better than the last two. The first episode creeped me out, but I enjoyed how things are going to a new level,” Tahir Razzaq, obsessed fan, said.
Throughout the 90-minute episode, audiences are introduced to various peculiar, intricate characters: such as Iris, the hotel’s irate front desk manager; Hypodermic Sally, a woman struggling with her twisted, troubling past; Elizabeth, owner of Hotel Cortez and also known as the blood thriving “Countess”, and many more to come.
Amongst the wide range of characters that are a part of this season, there are many familiar A-list celebrities that have been casted for this season. Of the familiar faces, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson, Wes Bentley, Matt Bomer, Evan Peters, and last but not least- Lady Gaga will be making appearances throughout the season.
Over 5.81 million viewers tuned in to watch the highly-anticipated show, and many viewers were beyond impressed and enthusiastic for AHS: Hotel. Of these 5.81 million viewers, many students of Niles North expressed their thoughts and opinions of the show, including Marcus Ambubuyog (soph) and Chloe Ballais (soph).
“The premiere was terrifyingly beautiful. The set, the scares, and the acting was everything I expected. Lady Gaga was amazing! I’m anticipating that this season will be the scariest season yet,” Ambubuyog said.
“My jaw kept dropping throughout the episode, and halfway through I couldn’t believe how much had already happened. I’m looking forward to seeing more crazy things that will occur during the season,” Ballais said.
After watching AHS: Hotel myself, I was left either at the edge of my seat in excitement, or burying myself in blankets and pillows terrified for what’s to come. Being the Halloween fanatic, I have yet to wait to marvel over the beautiful special effects, cringe-worthy gore, and extreme scare factor.
American Horror Story: Hotel airs every Wednesday at 9 pm on FX.
