Apple passed Samsung in sales back in the fourth quarter of 2014. Samsung’s plans were big on how to get back to being number one. On Sunday, March 1, Samsung added the new S6 to its Galaxy family.
Samsung has already gotten the attention back from Apple. The new Galaxy S6 has many great features that surpass the iPhone 6 features. I know that at least it’s not going to bend!
Some of the new features are:
Design:
The design looks very similar to the Galaxy S5, except the S6 has a non-removal back cover. The front LCD and back cover are both Gorilla glass, the strongest glass in the industry. Unfortunately, due to the back cover, the battery is not replaceable and you’re unable to expand the memory. However, the S6 will come in 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB. The combination of QHD and 5.1 inch Super AMOLED display, makes the best mobile screen on the market.
Operating System & Touch Wiz:
The S6 will be running on Android 5.0 Lollipop. Samsung has improved its Touch Wiz overlay to decrease the “lag”. Everything is grouped in colors, for example, messages are orange and contacts are teal.
Home button is now linked to the camera that will launch in 0.7 seconds, making it easy for you to capture the moments.
Quick Specs:
The QHD is joined with 64-bit octacore processor and 3GB of RAM. Samsung said that the RAM and the storage performance has been improved by 40% in some areas. The fingerprint unlock option is now available as a touch instead of swiping.
Regarding Samsung Pay, Samsung managed to put a credit card stripe in the back of the phone that would program to any of your selected credit cards. Once you get your S6, you’ll be able to tap it at any credit card machine and pay the store. Unlike Apple Pay where you can only pay Apple Pay merchants.
Camera:
It’s still got all the great features from the Galaxy S5, such as Auto HDR mode and optical image stabilization. But now, Samsung upgraded the front camera to 5Mp with impressive low-light performance and faster shutter speed.
It’s easier than ever to take a selfie. With the S6, you can just put your figure over the heart-rate sensor and it’ll automatically take a selfie, but only when you have the front camera open.
The back camera is still 16MP, except that now, it is f1.9 aperture, up 34% from the S5 in terms of low-light ability.
This is the best phone Samsung has ever made. It sets the bar high for its market. It’s a premium phone as it should be.
“I think that the Galaxy S6 edge is fresh, exciting and looks like a phone that I would like to own,” English teacher Jason Mormolstein said.
