Halloween is not all about tricks and treats with an eerie theme. It’s central focus on costumes gives people young and old an excuse to express themselves in a way they might normally not without the guise of it being just a costume. Plenty of people go all out buying countless pieces for an overall killer costume or creating one from scrap that no one else could possible mimic. However, there are plenty of other people who want to participate in festivities without committing that much of their time to achieving a costume to fit them and their Halloween vibe. For those, here are a few Halloween costume ideas:
The Apathetic Trick-o-Treater
Plenty will already grumble at the teenagers who are still hunting for free candy, so you might as well poke a little fun at those that will receive you poorly with a costume composed of jeans and a plain shirt with a big piece of drafting tape labeled “Costume” in black sharpie. Feel free to ask people if they can guess what your costume is.
American Tourist
Just wear bright white tennis shoes, jeans, a T-shirt (showcasing American colors), and a proudly displayed fanny pack; everyone will know what you are supposed to be.
The Cereal Killer
Who doesn’t like to be punny? If a joke that’s a play on words is more your speed, take an empty cereal box and make a gash on it (near the top of the cereal box that way you could still use it as a bag for trick-o-treating) and get a matching knife (either a butter knife or a fake one from a Halloween store). Coming from the gash and on the knife, you can either use fake blood from a Halloween store or use white paint as milk, i.e. “cereal blood.”
Fonz
Don a white T-shirt, jeans, and a leather jacket. Also, make sure to practice your “Ayyyye” so that you sound like the Fonz and not a prepubescent male with “swag.”
Awkward School Photo
Don a pair of prescription aviator glasses and a “nice” sweater vest. Make your hair look awful by getting a crazy perm or styling it with gel. Practice a truly uncomfortable smile to showcase whenever anyone asks what your costume is for Halloween. Up the ante, by carrying around large cardboard square cutout to act as your “picture frame.”
Happy Halloween!
