The Memory Project is an organization that allows art students to create portraits of children who have been neglected, orphaned, or disadvantaged from all different parts of the world. This year, Niles North students had the opportunity to make portraits for a group of orphans from the Philippines. Each student got paired with an orphan and received a photo of them to create their masterpiece. After the portraits are sent in, they will be hand delivered to the children in the Philippines. The Memory Project takes a photo of each child holding their portrait and sends it to the student who created that portrait.
“A lot of these kids have been through so much at a young age so being able to give them something that they can hold on too and cherish is amazing,” senior Angela Onesti said.
Niles North students cannot wait for their orphans to receive their beautiful creations. The project has really brought people of different parts of the world together.
Take a look at some of the portraits our artists created.
