Niles North’s girls basketball played their last home game of the season last Friday against Glenbrook North High School. The girls celebrated the high school careers of their senior players with their senior night. According to senior Stephanie Warda, the experience was bitter sweet.
“It didn’t feel real that that was really our last home game just because I’ve been playing for so long.” said Warda. “But it’s also exciting because in a few months my life will really start.” This spirit sums up how many seniors are feeling at the cusp of graduation.
That attitude apparently helped out the Lady Vikings, as they went on to defeat GBN 56-50, in a game that could only be described as close. The Vikings maintained a lead for much of the game, but GBN was always close behind. “We know we played really well.” said Warda. ‘We did a good job sharing the ball and playing really selfless.”
The team will go on to play the last two games of the regular season before starting the conference championship games. Make sure to come out and support the girls basketball team for any one of these two games.
Go Vikings!
