If you could switch lives with any fictional character for a day, who would it be and why? Fictional character? I would probably go with Aquaman, [because] I would be rich, have super strength and move really quickly, I could get some underwater pals, and just being underwater would be pretty cool.

Can you share a moment from your volleyball career that taught you a valuable lesson? So one time when I was just starting out, I was playing defense a little too close to the net and someone spiked the ball right into my face so I learned to put my hands up. And on a larger scale, that it’s okay to grow as a player.

What’s your favorite thing about the city or town you live in? It’s really peaceful and relaxing and it’s nice that I live really close to all my friends so we can hang out at a park whenever we want to.

What’s your favorite board game or card game and why? Probably Monopoly because you can play with a lot of people and there is a lot of strategy involved. You can talk a lot of smack in the background and it’s also highly competitive. It’s also super long which I like.

What’s your favorite thing to do to relax and unwind? I really like to read. It’s nice and peaceful and I’m able to focus on one thing, the story, and drown everything else out.

If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would you want to be? Probably Japan because it’s really warm, there’s a lot of fun things to do there, and I love being able to spend time with my family whenever I’m there. For example, I really love going to the beaches; it’s really clear water and we can go boogie boarding.

If you could pick one movie or TV show to watch for the rest of your life, what would it be? It’s pretty hard to pick just one but I’d probably have to say this show called “White Collar.” It’s on Netflix and it’s this police show which is super funny but also has a good plot.

If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? Probably pizza, [which is] kind of basic but you can also have variety on it too.

What has been one of your academic goals this school year?  To try to keep all A’s. Right now I’m doing pretty good but I’m also definitely cutting it kind of close with a good few of my classes.

Do you think participating in team sports like volleyball can improve your academic skills, such as time management or teamwork? Yes, since there’s less time for you to finish your work during the day, especially if you have a long practice or a game. You have to finish your work quickly during the day so you don’t fall behind academically.

What do you want to be when you get older and how do you plan to achieve that goal? I wanna be either a financial accountant or CFO. To get there, probably nepotism… but I don’t really have any family members that are leading a business, so I’ll probably go to college and figure it out from there.

If you could live in any time period, past or future, for one year, which would you choose? I would go to the past in the Feudal era in Japan so I could become a samurai and rizz people up. Besides that, I’d probably try to create my own empire as well as drinking lots of tea and eating sushi.

Is there anything else you would like to add? The lunch selection in the cafeteria has gotten a lot better, specifically the specials. I really like the sliders with the spicy sauce that they give you.
