What is your name and grade level? Ynigo Ocampo, Sophomore.

What sports do you play? I mainly play volleyball, but in my free time I also play soccer, and I love spiking the ball down. I’m also on the Sophomore soccer team right now.

What are your hobbies? Definitely cooking, sketching, and learning Japanese. I also like to hang out with my family and friends.

What is your proudest accomplishment? Realizing that I can improve no matter what, even during hardships; failing numerous times but still getting back up and trying again.

What’s your go-to midnight snack? Either strawberries or bananas, because they’re so juicy and sweet.

What three items would you take with you on a deserted island? For sure—a really sharp knife, a lighter, and a random book so I don’t get bored.

If money was no object, what would you do all day? I would buy myself a lot of Lego sets and a lot of flight tickets to visit different places around the world.

What’s your favorite zoo animal, and why? Pandas, because they’re adorable, fuzzy, chubby, and cute.

If you could time travel, when and where would you go? I’d go somewhere around the late 1990s or early 2000s in Japan or America, because that was when the culture was at its peak. The movies (Rush Hour, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift), the fashion, the cars, the music, the style; everything. I would also want to meet the legendary Japanese drifter Mitsuru Haraguchi.

What’s your favorite fast food chain, and why? Chipotle, because it’s a lot healthier than the other fast food chains. I’m all about the healthy stuff, I love to be healthy!

What’s the most unusual thing you’ve ever eaten? Balut, it’s a famous weird Filipino street food. It’s made of unfertilized bird egg.

What is your favorite childhood memory? Probably playing with my cousins late at night in the Philippines. It always made me feel entirely complete and undeniably happy.

What piece of advice or motto do you live by? Take the risk or you’ll have no story.

If you could relive one moment in your life, which would it be? Probably the summer of 2021, as that was the time when I started going out a lot with my friends. We would bike a lot and go to a lot of different places; it was definitely then that I ended up getting closer to many of them.

Would you rather be a superhero or a supervillain? Supervillain, because then I could do anything that I wanted.

What do you look for in a friendship? I always look for one of two things: reliability and trustworthiness. The ones that have both are the ones that will go through the darkest hour with you.
