Al Bawadi Grill, located in Niles and Bridgeview, provides guests with traditional, well-made Middle-Eastern cuisine. Al Bawadi Grill first opened its first location in 2008, Bridgeview, also known as Little Palestine. The restaurant provides a series of hot and cold dishes, according to Middle Eastern culture, served in small amounts for sample eating and larger portions for the full meal. “What made it stand out to me particularly was their Knafeh,” junior Laiba Naeem says, which is a dessert option at their restaurant. “I first tried it at Al Bawadi. I’ve tried it from other places since but theirs is the best one by far.” The menu contains options ranging from sandwiches, grilled skewers, vegetarian dishes, drinks, and desserts. More specifically, they serve grilled kebabs, sandwich wraps, salads, soups, and more. The large menu gives guests choices for appetizers ranging from hot and cold portions, along with drinks like cocktails, juices, coffee, tea, and more. This restaurant consists of tawny-colored wood floors and dark-wood tables with booths along with tall, decorative plants and beautiful large windows. Kabul House

Afghanistan restaurant located in Evanston, IL

Kabul House offers a taste of appetizing Afghan dishes than have existed in the history of Afghanistan for many, many centuries. In 2015, the restaurant was rated Michelin Bin Gourmand, meaning the food is certainly worth the price. The high-quality Afghan food ranges from lamb, seafood, beef, and chicken dishes, as well as fresh vegetarian specialties that include pumpkin, eggplant, spinach, and more. “The interior of the place is huge, calming, and aesthetically beautiful; I love the chicken kabob because it’s perfectly cooked inside.” says junior Mahum Ansari. “Priced well and the food is worth the money.” The lovely patterned tiles, matching counters and walls, plants, and photo frames would make a great dining experience for any guest who’s interested in enjoying an Afghan-made meal for the first, second, third, or fourth meal of the day, or perhaps just going in for a quick but well-made dessert. 

 

Jarasa Kabob

Jarasa Kabob, a to-go restaurant with a few tables in Skokie, has chefs who are very well-experienced and can prepare a variety of appetizers, meals, and desserts across the menu within minutes. The Mediterranean recipes are inspired from the relative history of Jerash, a city in northern Jordan, to create an authentic and tasty cuisine that combines both traditional local cooking techniques and international recipes. “I like this restaurant because it has all sorts of different varieties you can choose from, such as beef, chicken, a mixed platter, your preferred rice, side dishes such as coleslaw, falafels, and sauces, as they all come at a decent price as well.” junior Jannat Rana says. She continues with her positive review, including unique features in this restaurant compared to the others listed. “Not only this, but they also give out fresh and free soup while you wait, their service accommodates really well, you can see them making the food right in front of you, and it’s a very clean and nice place to dine as well. The food is always fresh and warm.”   

 

Noon-O-Kabab

In the suburbs of Chicago, Noon-o-Kabab’s restaurant remains popular among the Middle-Eastern community. Their menu ranges from a variety of different, new, and halal foods that were freshly introduced from the Middle East, Persia, into Chicago since 1997; what started out as a small, family-owned restaurant with only 11 tables now tripled in size. This restaurant has ingredients from Iran and family recipes, with a lot more options now; Beef, lamb, seafood, vegetarian, soups, salads, and more; also including Persian ice cream (“Bastani”) all for great and worthy prices. “Noon-O-Kabab has tasty kabobs and chicken made fresh daily by the chef,” parent and loyal customer Joann Michaels says. “Their Humus and Baba Ganoush is made fresh daily, my favorite hummus by far.” The restaurant ambiance is quiet and softly lit, the walls and alcoves decorated with exquisite Persian tiles depicting Sufi fables and tales. Melodious Persian music accompanies patrons as they enjoy the food and each other’s company. The servers are gracious and exude warmth for the restaurant’s fellow patrons.

 

Libanais

Lebanese restaurant located in Lincolnwood, IL
