What Fem Club is doing for Women’s History Month

If you’re wondering what to do this March for Women’s History Month, Fem Club has you covered.

First of all, the students in Fem Club compiled a list of books to read that highlight women. The list can be accessed on this calendar on the date Monday 3/28.

According to junior Bianca Joaquin, “The books that I chose for the list are stories that feature women of color, women of the LGBTQIA+ community, and women whose intersectionality makes them complex characters with goals and ambitions.”

As well as putting together this list of books, Fem Club has two meetings this month where you can watch and discuss movies about notable women.

The first is on Thursday, March 10, where they will be watching Chisholm ‘72: Unbought and Unbossed. This movie is about Shirley Chisholm, the first black woman to be elected to Congress and to seek nomination for president.

The second meeting is on Thursday, March 24, where they will be watching Wonder Women! The Untold Stories of American Superheroines. Furthermore, Fem Club and WHO Club will be collaborating on March 16, when they will hold a panel discussion that highlights intersectional feminism.

Although Fem Club is committed to highlighting women during Women’s History Month, they also do this and more throughout the entire school year. This club is an informative space where students can freely learn, discuss, and ask questions.

“Fem Club is a welcoming and student-driven space to explore issues of gender and intersectionality in our school, in popular culture, in politics, in history, and more!” Fem Club sponsor Barbara Hoff said.
