Fireworks exploded above the nation’s Capitol in a resplendently epic blaze of glory, welcoming a new administration into the White House on Wednesday night. However, for President Biden and his staff, there was little time to celebrate.

The democratic president sprinted from the starting line by approving no fewer than 17 executive policy decisions. He enacted a national mask mandate on federal property and re-activated America’s membership with the World Health Organization. He brought the nation back into the Paris Climate Accords agreement and moved to reverse almost all of Trump’s immigration reforms, from travel bans and deportation to construction at the southern border.

President Biden signed even more directives the following day meant to expand COVID testing and accelerate vaccine rollout.

Aside from executive orders, Biden plans to address other issues via more concrete legislative avenues in the coming weeks. His priorities include pausing student debt interest and housing foreclosures to ease the financial burdens of a beleaguered national economy.
