Due to the snow last week, the Murder in the Library game will take place this Friday during periods 4 – 7. Each game is one period long.

Caitlin Greener, librarian, will run the program. The game is based on Clue, a popular role play board game. In this game however the people playing will be the pieces.

When asked why she chose to run this program Greener said, “We chose to do the game for two reasons: we wanted something fun to help carry us through the winter doldrums. January and February can seem so long and gray and boring, and we wanted to have something exciting in the Library during that time. Also, murder mysteries are a long-time staple of reading for fun. For hundreds of years people have read murder mysteries simply for the fun of it, and Niles North students are no exception in that. We thought we would take it one step further and allow students to solve their own mystery.”

If you are interested in checking it out, Greener has something to say about that: “We hope students simply have some fun building their deductive reasoning skills and working together. We also hope that students see the library in a different light, that we are not just a room full of a books, but an active community of curiosity and experiences.”

Something else to get you hyped up is that there will be prizes.

“There will be candy and small prizes for everyone who participates, and the person/team that solves the mystery first will get to choose free books from our secret stash in the back,” Greener said.

To join the fun make sure to go sign up on the sign up sheet in the library. Fourth period is already filled.
