Apple gets up to date with its new ‘appdate’

On Sept. 19, Apple released the successor of the iOS10 mobile operating system called iOs11.

Introducing a lot of new features and updates, as well as some minor bugs and interesting glitches, the new iOS11 update definitely lives up to its anticipation.

The feature that received the largest overhaul, aesthetically speaking, was the Control Center. Instead of the Center being a small box on the bottom of your screen, it now takes up a full page in order to show off its new, more convenient way of tweaking your phone to your liking.

With the new wifi update on the iOS10, you never have to bother reading your long wifi password to all your guests, just simply hold your Apple device next to theirs and you have shared your password. This feature works with iPhones and iPads running iOS11, as well as Macs running macOS High Sierra.

Although the new iOS update has a lot of useful new features, it also introduced the infamous “A ?” glitch.

There is no “I” in iPhone, at least not for users that updated their iOS system. Users worldwide have reported that whenever they type the letter “I”, it changes to the letter “A” followed by a question mark box symbol. This was classified as an autocorrect glitch by Apple and has been fixed with the new iOS 11.1.1. patch.

One of the other bugs that users have been reporting is a deficit in battery life, which is an extremely important factor in the daily use of the iPhone.

“I usually have a daily routine of when I charge my iPhone. I charge it before I go to sleep and every day after I come home to school. Ever since I updated to iOS11, the battery dies more quickly and it caught me by surprise a few times and I had to change my routine and charge it more often throughout the day,” Raif Seferovic, junior, said.

Even though we have received a number of innovative and exciting new features, Apple seems reluctant to give their customers what they constantly ask for. Something that has always been requested is group FaceTime, and with every iOS update the customers develop a sense of hope that the next one will include it.
