Niles North bowling is a co-ed team that was established just this year, and they’ve bowled all the way to the top.
In the first game, they started off slow. However they began to get the hang of things and they were all bowling strikes. By the second half of the game a couple people even had doubles and turkeys. If you’re unfamiliar with bowling slang, a turkey means a bowler got three strikes in a row.
The other team ended up shooting a 896, which is the total of all the individual bowlers scores. Niles North ended up with 993. They were upset that they almost reached 1,000 points because that is their goal as a team. Its a big achievement to reach 1,000 points because that means each bowler will have an average of 200 points.
The pressure was on in the 2nd game to bowl that fabulous 1,000 point game. They thought they had it going into the 10th frame because their anchor bowler had 5 strikes. They ended up losing from too much pressure because the anchor missed their last spare. They ended the second game with 992 while the other team ended with 996. They only lost by four points!
The third game was their last chance to win. They started out well but began to lose momentum as the game went on. They buckled up and gave it their best leading almost all bowlers to strike out and they finish with a 1,014 point game!
“I was so relieved when we finally reached 1,000 points. We were so close in the previous games and I’m so proud of my team. I just hope they give us some decent pizza ,” said senior Zel Velarde.
At the end of the day, our team won two out of three games, set a team goal, and won pizza for achieving a 1,000 point game.
