Dear my fellow peers,
So many of us think that in order for college to accept us, they want to see activities on our resume. But more important than activities is leadership. So a lot of us have been trying and are still trying to pile on those leaderships. That’s understandable; we all want to get out of high school one day (no matter how amazing Niles North is) and want to get into a “good” college and be something.
But let me stop you for a second, are you legit doing your job and fulfilling all of the responsibilities within that leadership position?
Don’t do something if you are not going to be putting your %150 effort into it. That’s just not fair, not to you, not to the sponsor, not to anybody. If you are just simply going to act like a general member, then why in the world are you in a leadership position?! If you hate that activity, or just are “too busy” to be involved in it, then how about you just don’t be in it and let somebody else, who actually cares about it and has the time, take your spot? I know that sometimes we have so much to worry about: school, homework, friends, work, family, activities, and sports, etc. And I know that sometimes we have to prioritize things, but when you sign up for something, you are telling everybody in that “activity” that you are dedicated. Your boss hires you because he knows you will be there whenever he needs you to work. You are not going to tell him, “oh sorry, I can’t come in today because I have other important things to do.” He will fire you if you say that.
So, why don’t you, instead of piling leadership positions on, just try to find an activity that you are truly passionate about and succeed in it? Colleges want to see leadership in many things, but they also want to know how YOU made a difference as a leader in that certain activity. A leader is not just a title; it is your impact as a person.
So my fellow peers, lets stop being lazy and step up to the plate if we are actually going to sign up to do something.

Maggi, you raise an excellent point here. Hey, aren’t you also the President of the Spanish Honor Society? 🙂
