This year at Niles North High School, a bowling team is being introduced for the first time in school history. Daniel Ullenbrauck, a senior student at Niles North, initially pitched the idea because of his passion for bowling.
This is a much anticipated event, with many students excited for the opportunity to demonstrate their bowling skills.
“I’m excited because a lot of people don’t really see bowling as a competitive activity, but it does take a lot of skill and practice” senior Zel Velarde said. “Now we can actually show people how much hard work it takes to be a good bowler.”
There will be an informational meeting on Thursday, October 24 at 3:30 p.m. in the Point and any student interested in bowling is welcome to attend. No experience is necessary and the team will be competing with other high schools that also have bowling teams.
There will be only one combined team for Niles North and Niles West and there are not going to be any tryouts. Anyone is welcome to practice and the line-up will be decided at a later date based of performance during practices.
Make sure to e-mail Mr. Sokolowski if you have any further questions.
