District 219 has commenced the enforcement of a new identification policy that says each student and faculty member must be wearing a lanyard complete with an ID around their neck at all times.
This policy was brought to concern by members of the school community, including administrators, teachers and parents after the 3 school shootings that took place in 2012 – most notably, Sandy Hook.
“This policy is not a punishment; it’s for the safety of our community at North,” said assistant principal of building and grounds, Keith Robinson. “It comes from a caring place, a loving place, fear, worry, and concern.”
