On Saturday, April 20, Niles North High School will host its 22nd annual Vocal Jazz Night beginning at 7:30 p.m. A free community performance, will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 19.
The concert will feature performances by all three ensembles: Take One, Sound Check and Harmonic Motion. Each musical group is under different authority. Daniel Gregerman directs Take One, Logan Farris directs Sound Check and Katherine Lachey directs Harmonic Motion.
To prepare for the concert, the students compile repertoires from all year– such as music from their gigs at benefits and festivals, including the Western Michigan Vocal Jazz Festival.
All songs will be familiar and the performance entertaining. Songs will be performed in groups of four and five, followed by specialty acts, which are creative projects that the students created.
Harmonic Motion will be performing songs such as “My Favorite Things” and “Moves.” Sound Check will be singing “Get on Your Feet,” “Loves Me Like a Rock” and more. And Take One will be performing “Moondance” and “Knock Me a Kiss,” as well as other favorites.
“We are all super excited and I’m confident that it will be an amazing show,” senior Taylor Gardner said.
Tickets for Saturday’s performance are $10 per person.
