Accessories are a necessity. Whether its a necklace to go with a dress, a ring or even earrings the price can skyrocket if you are not careful. But why not try making your own jewelry? There is no experience needed. All you need is some supplies and a creative mind. These sea foam colored earrings are both easy to make and unique. Follow these simple steps to personalize your dangling earrings, which can be worn with any outfit or for any occasion.
What you need: [wire cutting] pliers, small silver chain, beads, fish hook earrings, a ruler, flat head pins or eye pins.
You can find all these supplies at a local craft store.
Take precaution when making jewelry. The pliers can be dangerous. Take your time and be careful where you place your fingers.
1. Measure and cut the chain (with the wire cutting pliers) to your desired length. (I used about 2 inches.)
2. Attach the chain to the earring by simply opening one loop of the chain and attaching it to the loop at the bottom of the earring post.
3. Take an flat head pin (or eye pin) and place your desired bead on the pin. Flat head and eye pins come in different shapes. Play it safe and buy an assorted pack.
4. After the beads are on the pin, take the pin and attach it to the chain. You do this by curling the open end of the eye pin onto a loop in the chain. It is preferred to start from the top of the chain and work downwards. The eye pins helps the beads dangle from the earring. This create a waterfall-like appearance.
5. Make sure the eye pin is secured tightly to the chain, to ensure that no beads fall off.
6. Repeat steps 2 through 4 until both earrings are full.
7. Lastly, clean off the earring backings with rubbing alcohol to sterilize your earring before wearing.
Happy beading!
