The 2025 Primetime Emmy Awards were a showdown of fashion, art and drama, where the red carpet turned into the runway, speeches into monologues and the after parties into their own award worthy spectacles. From the Peacock theatre in Los Angeles, Hollywood’s biggest stars gathered, with comedian Nate Bargatze, who added a fun twist and created a memorable night for all in attendance.
The biggest celebrities donned dramatic silhouettes, bold colors and rare jewels. Lisa stunned a bubblegum pink Lever Couture gown with swirled ribbon like strips, making it look straight out of a fairy tale. She painted this with a Bulgari Serpenti choker necklace adding the final touches. Cate Blanchett honored the late Giorgio Armani in a black velvet backless jumpsuit with crystal detailing.
The awards started with the announcement of the Best Drama Series. The Pitt took that along with the Lead Actor in a drama series, won by Noah Wyle. Katherine LaNasa also won Supporting Actress in a drama series for The Pitt. The Studio won multiple Emmys including Best comedy series, Writing for a comedy series, Directing for a comedy series and Lead Actor in a comedy series. The last three were all won by Seth Rogen. Furthermore, Lead actress in a limited or anthology series won by Cristin Milioti, was the only one The Penguin took home. They were up against pretty tough competition from series such as Adolescence, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez story and Black Mirror.
Adolescence dominated the limited/anthology category with multiple wins such as best limited or anthology series, Stephen Graham for Lead Actor in a limited or anthology series, Erin Doherty for Supporting Actress in a limited or anthology series, Writing for a limited or anthology series, Directing for a limited or anthology series and lastly Owen Cooper for Supporting actor in a limited or anthology series. Cooper, at 15, made history as the youngest performer to win an Emmy for outstanding supporting actor in a limited series. His acting in Adolescence has touched hearts and led him to achieve such a huge accomplishment at such a young age.
Shifa Mahmood, a student at Niles North, shared her reactions,” I think it’s great that someone so young has the talent to compete against pros,” Mahmood said. “I saw clips of his acting and it gave me goosebumps.”
As the night came to an end, it reminded viewers why television is so captivating. With achievements reaching an all time high, legendary productions competing for the win and the extraordinary abilities to reflect culture, push boundaries, and spark conversation showcased on one of the world’s biggest stages. From unexpected wins to iconic red carpet moments, it was an affair to watch.
