After last year’s very successful first season, the girls’ flag football team is excited and ready to conquer this year. The program has drawn special attention and interest from students and fans. So far this season, the varsity team has gone 4-4, their most recent win against Maine West, 39-18.
The team has already shown dominance in the conference with a 2-0 record. Senior Duaa Haq says that “This year the football team has two new coaches and they’ve been coaching us through better running form and just overall the way we move as athletes. We’ve also created a stronger bond, and we move more fluidly as a team with strong chemistry.”
What stands out the most about this team is their willingness and effort. After losing a few seniors from last year, Haq says that “Our team feels a lot emptier this year. Our seniors made a big impact, but now it’s our turn to step up and take their place as leaders, especially to show our new players what leadership and commitment is about.”
Even though many players are new to flag football, the team has developed quite fast, emphasizing heavily on communication and chemistry. Overall, the 25-26 season looks bright for Niles North, wins are coming in, and the program is becoming highly successful throughout the community
