What’s your name and grade? I’m Hussain Khan, and I’m a senior.
What is your favorite music artist? Ooh, that’s a really good question. I think my favorite music artist right now has to be Tory Lanez; his album Alone at Prom is just magical. And, maybe, PartyNextDoor. My favorite song is “In For It” or “Or Nah” by The Weeknd.
What is your biggest pet peeve? Oh, you know, when you’re walking, and someone holds a door for you from, like, 30 feet away, and you’ve got to do a little jog to the door? I hate that.
What do you think makes someone a good person? I think that when they’re calm and don’t get mad over anything. When they’re completely honest, and they’re really friendly to everyone, no matter who, even if the person is super annoying. A good example of this is David Gonzalez Rodriguez. Super kind guy, I love him so much, and I get annoyed by some people, you know, but David Gonzalez somehow talks to everyone and makes conversation.
What is the most realistic animal sound you could make? Probably a goat. Baaaughh. The goat is Lebron James.
What’s the best cereal? That is a good question. I love food. You know what? I love a lot of different cereals. Cocoa Puffs, anything you put in front of me, I’ll basically eat. But, I’ve got to go with Cheerios. They’re a little healthy, and they’re my go-to. When I’m bulking up, I eat them, and my mom always buys them, so they’re always there in my house. I just really love them.
What is the biggest red flag in a person? The biggest red flag has to be when they talk behind your back. I think if they have a problem, they can come up to you and talk to you about it, and you can work things out. But some people, you know, they just can’t do that, I guess.
If you were a character in a horror movie, how would you avoid getting killed? So, I watch these horror movies, and some of these guys are so stupid, but I don’t think that’s very hard. I think if I lock my doors, maybe barricade myself inside my basement, I should be fine. Or, maybe the smartest option would be going to my cousin’s house and taking his gun so if anything bad happens at the end of the day, you know, self defense is self defense, and I could just shoot the scary guy. But, if they’re immortal, then I only fear God, so I’ll just have my death and I’ll let them take me.
If you could meet anyone in the world alive or deceased, who would it be? Definitely Lebron James. Honestly, if I met him, I wouldn’t wash my hand for a whole week. To get an autograph with him, I would sleep with a plushie of Lebron James. Man, I would do anything to meet LeBron James. I think, you know, I do love other basketball players like Luka, but LeBron James is just something else. I mean, he literally created his own teammate. Like, just to shake his hand one time, you know, just to get a glimpse of him, that would be a dream.
What motivates you to work hard? My parents really motivate me, because my dad’s really hard working, and my mom, you know, I just feel like sometimes I disappoint her. I’ve broken down our microwave, left our freezer open when we went on a trip—and yet she still somehow is able to put up with me.
What nicknames do you have, and where do they come from? So I think I only have one nickname you might hear people calling me at school: Husky. Basically, I made it myself—it’s my Fortnite username. Actually, it’s my gamer tag for everything. And, you know, it just stuck to people who just call me it. You know what, also? Nana actually caused me Hew Hew, and Quinn calls me Hussy. I don’t know where those came from.
If you had to eat a crayon, which color would you choose, and why? Definitely red, because I love the color red. It’s my favorite color. And I think I’ve actually eaten a crayon before; only a little, only the tip, but it’s not that good.
What’s the most unusual thing you’ve ever eaten in your life? You know when you’re sitting in elementary school and you and some guys have, like, a carton of milk and all this leftover food? So basically, my friends and I would make some crazy stuff, and I’ve drunk it all. So, what was in it? I think there was a carrot, maybe a little bit of pizza, some chocolate milk, celery—anything we could get our hands on.
What is your go-to pick-up line? Alright, I don’t think I’ve ever used a pickup line in my life. Hold on, I had a good one… Oh, so if you go up to a girl that does cross country, you’ve got to ask them: “Do you do cross country?” And they say, “yes,” and you’re like, “Because you’ve been running through my mind all day.” Now put in there: *giggles cutely*.
What is your biggest regret in life? My biggest regret? That is a good question. Alright, I make a lot of mistakes. And, I try not to have any regrets in my life, but one of the biggest regrets I have is that during my freshman year of school, and sophomore year a little bit, I didn’t really care about my grades. I was fine with getting a B or C, as long as I passed. So, you know, it’s just that I can’t go back, and my GPA is forever tainted.
What is your motto in life? I have so many. A big one that I learned recently is: A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor. Oh, also: The tree falls the way it leans, from The Lorax, actually. You know, as I’m growing up in high school, I see all these people going to parties, they’re smoking, they’re drinking, and I would never go near any of that stuff, because I feel like even the smallest bit of influence can really change someone. But, you know, anything can happen.
Is there something else that you want to tell readers that I didn’t mention? So what I have to tell people is, I love beabadoobee, I love matcha, I love dressing baggy, you know. Did you ask what type of books I read? I read feminist literature about women’s rights. My greatest inspiration in life has to be Rosa Parks. She just said: “no,” like, how powerful is that? So, you know, when someone’s catfishing you, or someone’s trying to get your number, you could just say “no.” And that is so powerful.
