With the start of school brings a new and exciting season of fall sports. Boys soccer is back, and is ready to get things kicked off for the 2025-2026 season.
With a 13-3-6 record last year, the Niles North boys soccer team found itself basking in success. Led by head coach Filip Cejovic, the team is getting ready to dominate this season and keep their winning record.
When asked how the season will go this year, Coach Cejovic says that “This year specifically we are not only going to improve our technical ability, which is very high with the squad we have this year, But put a lot of emphasis on strength and fitness. In previous years, we have lost the regional final game to a team, not because of their squad was necessarily better than ours, but because they were bigger and stronger than us.”
Losing the seniors last year left a significant gap, causing the new upperclassmen to step up. “An important part of a successful high school team is the culture. The juniors and seniors lead the way because they have years of experience with the soccer program, they know the expectations for the preseason, offseason, and summer. One of the issues of getting better year in and year out is that a lot of people, especially this year, want to get involved with the program. It makes things challenging for coaches trying to accommodate the large numbers of people.”
This year looks to be very successful for the Vikings. “Team goals are always to continue to improve as a soccer player, to be competitive, and to become a soccer powerhouse. Our goals are also to win conference and win the regional finals”
