If you’re into thrillers, plot twists, and dark psychology, You might be perfect for you. This Netflix series follows bookstore worker Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley), who hides a much darker, obsessive side. What starts as a love for Joe quickly spirals into stalking, manipulation, and even murder. All told through the perspective of Goldberg himself.
This show keeps me hooked with every new season. Each season introduces new characters and new plots. No matter the situation, Goldberg always has a way to drag you into his twisted lies. Badgely does such a great job of playing Goldberg that it’s unsettling. His character is so complex because, even though you know he does terrible things, you’re pulled into his logic and left questioning. That discomfort is part of the watching experience.
Considering there are four seasons of the same storyline, it can sometimes feel repetitive and predictable. It’s always the same idea of a boy meeting a girl and then a boy stalking the girl and turning crazy. Still, the pacing is consistently fast, and the suspense is always there. Goldberg travels to new cities, experiences a new set of problems, and has new love interests on rotation, which helps keep the show interesting and less repetitive.
You isn’t the show for everyone. It’s dark, disturbing, and suspenseful. But if you enjoy watching psychological drama, it’s worth watching.
