In February, Ross Mathee will host a food drive that aims to collect non-perishable food items and hygiene products for A Just Harvest.
Imagine going to sleep at night hungry, not knowing where your next meal is going to come from. A Just Harvest works tirelessly to battle against hunger and poverty. A Just Harvest is a community soup kitchen and food pantry that serves the Rogers Park area and greater Chicago communities. They provide nutritious meals 365 days a year with no questions asked. In addition to the soup kitchen, A Just Harvest supplies a food pantry where they distribute non-perishable food items, hygiene products, and baby care for those who need it.
In these cold winter months, there is an increased demand for supply. Particularly during Jan. and Feb. considering many people have spent money that they cannot afford due to the holidays. These donations will help keep the pantry stocked in order for their mission to be fulfilled and continued.
Next time you find yourself at the grocery store, consider buying an extra can of soup or a package of crackers, because your donation can bring immense comfort and nourishment to a family in need. It’s important we support our community, as it builds a strong environment where everyone can thrive.
