Tonight, the twelfth ranked Niles North boys basketball takes on Highland Park on Lawler in a CSL North showdown. While this might feel like any other Friday night game for the Vikings, this game is different, as it is getting cable television attention. The game is set to be broadcasted on Marquee Sports Network, home of the Chicago Cubs, and Chicago Sky, by members of NN Viking Media as a part of Marquee’s Comunity Showcase, highlighting student-run broadcasts at Illinois high schools.
Marquee Sports Network Community Showcase started just last fall with a goal of featuring some of the best local student-produced broadcasts.
This will not be the first time Niles North Athletics will be featured on Marquee. NN Viking Media also broadcasted football senior night on Marquee back in Oct. Fast forward to Jan. and thanks to the hard work of NN Viking Media, and Niles North Boys Basketball, Marquee is back to run back Niles North athletics.
“Hard work pays off, and I’m so excited for our members to have another opportunity to be put on regional broadcast because of it. It takes a lot of effort and sacrifice to adequately cover our Viking Athletics, but our team spends long hours after school to do it. I’m very thankful for Derek Jensen, Allie Bertucci, and the rest of the programming team at Marquee for their help in getting us set up in the fall and again before the Highland Park game,” Anthony Bramley, student leader of NN Viking Media said.
In celebration of such a big game, Purple Pack has announced on social media that this game will have a Hawaiian theme for the student section. Students attending the game will receive Hawaiian leis as a giveaway.
If you can’t go to the game in person, then you can tune into the game on Marquee Sports Network, or watch it streaming on Marquee’s website by signing in with your cable provider.
