This year, the Niles North girls’ basketball team has had huge success. They started the season with a strong start against Lake View, earning a 52-27 win. With a 5-1 record overall, the team is having a great season.
On Dec. 6, the team beat their longtime rivals, the Niles West Wolves, in a conference game. They took the lead and won 47-36. This is the first time in a few years that the Vikings have come up victorious against the Wolves. Looking ahead, the girls are set to play the Wolves once again on Dec. 27 at the Regina Snowflake Shootout.
Although the team is very talented, when asked how important team chemistry is, junior Vanessa Bernal thinks that “It matters a lot, and beginning of freshman year, we didn’t have a lot of team chemistry and we weren’t as good. We lost most of our games, but this year our chemistry is strong, and that’s really important to be successful”
The next game takes place in our very own gym here at Niles North, where the girls will face off against Maine West, who is second in conference. Be sure to show up and show support for the team!
