Whether you want to be a war-crying barbarian leaping into the maw of a fire breathing dragon or a sneaky rogue detective navigating through a grimy dungeon, D&D is an open system that lets you tell whatever story intrigues you most.
Dungeons and Dragons Club—D&D Club—is held in the Skyloft on Mondays from 3:23–5:30 and is sponsored by Mr. Joritz. The club is a great place to meet people to play with, and there are smaller rooms available in the skyloft that you can use if your party wants a private place to play. It’s a great extracurricular that’s purely recreational and is a fun way to take your mind off of your workload.
“If you’ve got an idea for a story and some friends it makes for a really fun time,” club leader and senior Mars McKittrick said. “The great thing about D&D is that you barely need anything to start because it’s very imagination based. Plus the club provides some materials—such as dice or prewritten campaigns—so it won’t be a huge issue for newer folks.”
Dungeons and Dragons is a tabletop game about telling epic stories with your friends where you get to roleplay the characters that you, the players, create. You get to pick the path your adventuring party goes down and have a blast with your friends. You have one person who is the Dungeon Master (DM,) who controls the world the story takes place in, all the non-playable characters (NPCs) and simulates combat encounters. The other people in your friend group will be the players, who each control one character and roleplay that character through the world your DM is narrating.
“I think D&D is very much a hit or miss,” Special Education teacher and D&D Club sponsor, Zachary Joritz said. “Either you’re really into it or you’re not.” So, if more people knew what D&D was, maybe more people would even like it. It’s a great way to get to know other like minded people and to explore your creative side”
So if you’re interested in D&D Club, come on down to the Skyloft on Mondays after school and have some fantasy fun with your friends.
