Artists Benny the Butcher and 38 Spesh are no strangers to collaborating together, releasing their most recent album STABBED & SHOT 2 after the huge success that was their first partnership, STABBED & SHOT, which was released in 2018.
The album opens with “Still Better”, a simple audio of two men speaking about how it’s time to show that they are better rappers than people think they are. Following that is “1st Of April”, a smooth beat that was produced by V Don, who is one of the first of many features on this tight knit, no skip album. The star of this album has to be “Center Stage”. Although this is one of the more popular and recognizable songs from this album, it is very well deserved. Featuring Harry Fraud and sampling “I’ll Never Love Again” by Kelly Finnigan. Not only is the lyricism from both parties perfect, the beat they’re rapping over is just unmatched. Out of many of the songs on the album, this is one of the hardest beats on it.
Harry Fraud has many features on this album, another one of them being “Bad Guy” featuring Dave East and Klass Murda. Dave East, the genius behind the 2020 album Karma 3, doesn’t miss, and that is easily showcased on his feature in this song. Both Dave East and Klass Murda show off their excellent talent and ability on this song, their connection making it all the more enjoyable to listen to.
Benny and Spesh have continuously shown the musical chemistry that they have when they’re in the studio together, and this was such a great album to listen to, the vibes and beats were flowing the whole time and there weren’t any flaws I could point out. Overall this is a solid, underrated album that entertains many, yet is still criminally underrated.
