Plateup is a newly released game on Nintendo. It was first released on steam on August 4th, 2022 by the company It’s Happening. It is often known as being compared to Overcooked.
August 4th, 2022, a new party game was released known as Plateup. A party game with friends to play in an enclosed restaurant with customers and upgrades. Plateup was first released on Steam for Alpha test for players to sign up and play the game. As this progressed with time with updates the game became more polished and gained some popularity throughout the community. With the news spreading its popularity peaked at 7,541 players.
When you first open the game you are dragged into a tutorial. Instructions are given on how to cook, serve, plate and upgrade your restaurant. The tutorial is finished after mastering these techniques. You are then given the choice to play single player or multiplayer: up to 4 other people.
While you progress throughout the days more customers come; the solution being upgrading your restaurants with coins. These coins are rewarded after each day. The save progress is up to 3 days if you fail serving a single customer you restart the day. The problem being after 3 days, failing results in restarting your entire restaurant. Each restaurant you make has a purpose, unlocking new content and upgrades.
Players go through the game and unlock new features: foods, rooms and items. After customizing my chef-like character, I played with my little cousin weekly. We would be excited with what we could cook, varying in fish, salad, pizza and anything provided. As we played day by day upgrading our restaurant, a unique feature that was innovative was blueprinting: upgrading items. With upgraded blueprints’ you get better versions’, or something completely new while being related to the original purpose of the item. This gave us insight on what to plan; blueprints making us want to wait for that certain item and save our coins.
With Plateup being a party game, limitations are set. I noticed quickly after distributing my playtime over a couple months that it started to become stale. As updates are released every couple of months, I found myself bored. This is because there is not enough content for long periods of time hence the topic party game. Should you get Plateup?
Definitely, Plateup is worth the money. It is a fun multiplayer game to play with friends and family. I can’t describe the amount of funny moments you can have while playing this game. Shouting, laughing, focusing, I can proudly say that this game is the epitome of a party game.
