Winter break is the break that everyone looks forward to. The time when we can rest from finals and school, but no one wants to be bored over winter break. Going out with friends whenever you want is the best part of winter break.
Ice skating is a great way to get your winter break started. The ice skating rink in Millennium Park from Nov. through Mar., offers free ice skating lessons each weekend. Another choice is the ice skating rink in Maggie Daley. Open 7 days a week with ticket dates released every Monday until Mar.
Instead of skating, the Lincoln Park Zoo is open 365 days a year. Not only are the lights and decorations outstanding, but they bring out their polar bears, penguins, and snow monkeys as they play outside in the winter. Walking around the park is a great way to go outdoors but you can also shop. The Lincoln Park Zoo has local artisans, shops, and boutiques as you walk around.
During winter break, everyone does something different. People love to go out or stay in. There are great things to do over winter break.
“My favorite thing to do over winter break is to spend time with my family, friends, and my girlfriend and I love to get in the Christmas spirit,” senior Eddie Cho said. “I love to go ice skating and get lots of sleep.”
Winter break is not only known for relaxing but also for one of the coldest times of the year. Going somewhere cold isn’t always the best thing to do. Navy Pier hosts the biggest and brightest winter festival. They host an indoor ice rink, a climbing wall, a glittering forest of decorated trees, and winter-themed rides.
Lastly, the best thing to do over winter break is to stay home, make hot chocolate, and watch your favorite movies. Whether they’re holiday movies or not, staying home and relaxing is the best way to spend your winter break.
