What activities are you involved in at Niles North? I play volleyball for Niles North, am a part of the Filipino Club, co-founded Advocates for Avid, a recycling club, and a Chinese club.
How did you help start Advocates for Avid? I helped start it up by joining a few other Avid students and discussing how Avid wasn’t really well known among students who weren’t in it, and we wanted to spread the word specifically for the middle schoolers who will be a part of Avid in the future. So we decided to create a club that will advocate for students in Avid.
What’s your favorite thing about playing volleyball? My favorite thing is the exhilaration I feel after winning a game.
Who is someone who inspires you? My club volleyball coach, because he gives us great speeches that drive me to become a better volleyball player.
What is your favorite class you’ve taken while at Niles North? Definitely Chinese Two because the community in the class was like a big family and the teacher was super nice. We also had a great teacher.
If you could eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be, and why? Probably sushi because there are a lot of different flavors and combos you can have with it, so it wouldn’t get boring.
What is one of your unpopular opinions? One of my unpopular opinions is that pineapple belongs on pizza.
What is something you can never leave the house without? I can never leave the house without headphones because I love listening to music.
Where is your favorite place you’ve ever traveled? My favorite place I’ve traveled to is Bali, Indonesia, because I did so many fun, once-in-a-lifetime activities I got to do while I was there, like diving in coral reefs with all of these beautiful fish, and I got to spend time with my family.
What song do you think represents your personality? Definitely The Spins by Mac Miller because it’s super upbeat and it’s a fun song.
What is your favorite movie? My favorite movie is Interstellar because the ideas it gives you relating to space and time are really interesting and it makes you think.
If you could give advice to a freshman, what would it be? Try your best to have good study habits, because otherwise you’ll fall behind and it could take a toll on your mental health.
