During their first tournament weekend Aug. 19 and Aug. 20, the girls secured 13 wins. They battled through 8 difficult tiebreakers. Their current record is 4-1.
The team is already feeling a great sense of improvement from last season.
“We’re doing better than last year,” sophomore Julia Crisan said. “We’ve done a lot better communication and moving around getting to the ball which I think is the main reason for winning many of these matches.”
Unfortunately, due to excessive heat on Aug. 3 and 4, their game against Elk Grove was canceled. A makeup date is still in discussion.
Come out to support the team during their home games this coming week. On Monday, Sept. 4th, the girls have a home game against Regina. On Tuesday, a home game against Chicago North. And Wednesday, a home game against Glenbrook South. Wish the girls luck on their Springfield tournament on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 8th and 9th!
