C.A.R.E animal rescue service is holding a community event on September 9 to raise money for homeless pets.
The 28th Annual Strut for Strays is a hybrid event, the in-person walk is held at Northshore Sculpture Path on the morning of Sept. 9th for a 2.5-mile walk. For those who choose to be remote, you can complete your own virtual walk between Sept. 9th – Sept. 16. Upon registration, every registrant will receive a shirt that features the Strut logo. The first 200 registrants are guaranteed a goodie bag filled with items from sponsors.
The event doesn’t stop at just goodie bags and walking. Varying vendors and refreshments will be posted at the location. Complimentary nail trims are provided for your own dog(s). Plenty of adorable pets available for adoption will be attending the event as well.
C.A.R.E stands for Community Animal Rescue Effort. They are a volunteer-driven, not-for-profit, organization that serves all of the communities of Chicago’s North Shores. C.A.R.E’s mission is to refine the lives of pets in need by accommodating them in loving and safe homes through rescue, rehoming, and rehabilitation; reducing pet overpopulation; offering community partnerships such as counseling and education.
“I know firsthand how amazing the animal shelters in Skokie are,” Junior Lucy Emrich said. “The animals aren’t treated with as much care and kindness in other places as they are here, so we should do everything we can to help them stay open and keep helping animals that need it. There are so many homeless animals in the country that deserve love and safety just like your own dog or cat, and you can’t adopt every animal in the world but you can help our local shelters by attending events like C.A.R.E’s.”
