The girl’s softball team started their season on Feb. 27, hoping to make some noise.

Their current overall record is 5-9. They stand in sixth place in Conference, with a 1-3 record.

Their most recent game was held at Gompers Park against Northside College Prep, where the Vikings won 12-0.

The Vikings acknowledge that they still have a lot to work on for the remainder of the season.

“We need to work on more teamwork stuff like you know, communication, effort, and picking each other up,” junior Emma Espinoza said.

The team has been dealing with a challenging obstacle this season. Due to construction on the fields, they’ve been on the road the entire season. The Vikings are excited to have the turf installed for next year’s season, but it has also been difficult for the players.

“I think it has affected us because it gives us less time to practice,” freshman Aaliyah Struthers said. “I feel like it’s hard for everybody because we never got that ability to practice and get used to a field.”

The softball senior night will be held at The Ballpark at Rosemont on May 8 at 7:00. The team hopes their peers will come out to support them. Check out the Softball Instagram page @nn_softball for more information.
