Robotics Team 333R placed 25th in division at VEX Robotics World Championship
From April 25 to April 27, Niles North Robotics teams 333G and 333R competed in Dallas for the 2023 VEX Robotics World Championship, with team 333R placing 25th in their division.
333R, also known as “Los Robos,” had a record of six wins, three losses and one tie.
The competition featured 800 high schools, split up into 10 divisions. By placing 25th, according to senior and Captain Andrew Shlikhtau, 333R placed around the top 250 out of 800 teams, out of a total of 10,000 robotics teams in the world.
“I think one of my favorite parts besides competing was walking through the pits,” Shlikhtau said. “A lot of teams bring banners and decorations for their pits, and a lot of teams also bring free stickers to pass out to other teams.”
Additionally, the teams got to compete against other teams from all over the globe.
“Being able to meet other teams from around the world is also great. We were paired with a team from Thailand for one of our matches, and after we won they gifted us a bag of seaweed crackers,” Shlikhtau said.
According to Twitter account @NN_Robotics333, the teams have already begun preparing for next year’s game: “Over Under.”
