Nina Malhotra, Senior
What is your name and grade? My name is Nina Malhotra and I’m a senior.
What were some practice methods you used to win the Poetry Out Loud contest? I rewrote the poems over and over, and kept practicing them out loud. I would recite them while driving, getting ready, or just whenever I had free time. I also picked poems that I liked and could connect to, which made it easier for me to memorize them.
How did you get through rough times during high school? Having my friends and family to support me has been the most helpful and important thing during rough times.
What was your favorite class you took in high school? All of the art classes I’ve taken in high school have been my favorites. I love the variety of art classes Niles North has, because I’ve gotten to take classes related to painting and drawing, photography, and graphic design. I’m also in AP lit right now, and I’ve enjoyed it because we read lots of good books.
Do you have any pets? I have a dog named Barley, he’s a labradoodle.
What do you like to do in your free time? I like spending time with friends, photography and other types of art, and reading.
What were some things you did over spring break? I spent time with my family and went on a couple college visits.
What will you be majoring in for college next year? I’m planning on majoring in psychology and minoring in art!
Do/Did you attend any clubs at Niles North? I’m a part of the National Art Honor Society, which is a club that makes and sells different forms of artwork (like pins and tote bags) for fundraising money.
What’s your favorite song? My favorite song right now is The Archer by Taylor Swift.
How would you describe your fashion sense? Anything that’s comfortable.
Kaleb is a senior at Niles North. Some things he really enjoys are playing volleyball, hanging out with friends and working out.
