Gio Bautista, Junior

What is your name and grade? Giovanni Bautista, eleventh grade.

What clubs, sports, and/or activities have you been involved in throughout your high school career? Filipino Club, Kapit Bayan, and Wrestling are the main activities I’ve done throughout High School.

What club are you most passionate about? And why are you most passionate about it? Kapit Bayan, for sure. I’m a coordinator for it and it’s my greatest accomplishment, really. At Kapit Bayan, it’s like a large family, and seeing the dedication and work that everyone puts out in order to realize the vision of my fellow coordinators and I is really something amazing to see.

Who do you look up to and why? If there’s one person I look up to the most, it’s gotta be my mom. Everything she does is for my brothers and I and it’s really something I admire.

Where do you see yourself after college? I want to be a civil engineer or architect, so hopefully somewhere in a big city drawing maps for the new road layout.

Who is your favorite teacher in Niles North? My favorite teacher has got to be Ms. VanRoyen. She’s an incredibly thoughtful person and is more than helpful and understanding with everything. Even despite my shortcomings in Algebra, she contributed to support and believe in me.

What noticeable changes do you notice in yourself from Freshman year to now? Besides physical, I think it’s a level of maturity. I used to be a lot more daring back then, especially in the zoom chat section, but now I’ve found a balance between humor and respect in each of my classes.

What helpful advice do you have for the next incoming freshman? Know what you want to do and how to do it. And also ask others for help. Doing all these will give you huge security for your future in academics and life.

What are your thoughts on graduating high school early? Although it’s nice in some ways, I could never. I’m really social and I have no idea what I’d do all day as my friends are in school.
