Grant Olson, Senior
What is your name and grade? Grant Olson, Senior.
What’s your favorite hobby? My favorite hobby is biking.
What’s your favorite video game? I don’t play a ton of video games, but one of my favorites is one called Ghost of Tsushima, it feels really cinematic.
What goals are you trying to achieve this year? I’m really hoping to go under 5 minutes for a mile. It’s gonna be difficult, but I know it’s doable with hard work.
How would a friend describe you? I think they’d describe me as nice and outgoing, and I hope they’d describe me as funny.
What are your thoughts on being one of the team captains in Track? Firstly, I feel really honored to be chosen as a captain on such a large team. I just want to lead by example and support my teammates.
Who knows you the best? Why? I would say my dad. We enjoy a lot of the same things (like biking), so we do a lot together and spend a lot of time together.
Why did you quit swimming to join Track? I really enjoyed my time on the swim team, and didn’t quit due to not liking it. I think I’d say I “retired” as opposed to quitting. I had to choose between doing swim or indoor track. I knew that I would run and use the skills I’d improve on in track later on in my life. Due to that, I chose to run the whole year instead of swimming, since I would have had to stop running otherwise.
What is something you are most proud of? I am proud that this year, despite a leg injury that ended up taking me out of the season for a few weeks, I hit my best three mile time ever.
What is one thing you like about yourself and what is one thing you would change? I like how excited and invested I can get into school topics, and enjoy the experience of learning them. I think I would change how nervous I get before my races. I’m always stressed right until I run, and then after I realize and recognize that I had nothing to be worried about.
