Girls Badminton smash down first two opponents
The Girl’s Badminton season for the 22/23 school year has just begun, starting off strong with back-to-back wins.
Their season began with a meet on Monday, March 13 with a meet at Niles North against McHenry. The Varsity squad took their first win at the meet, winning eight out of twelve singles and four out of six doubles matches.
They had another meet on Wednesday, March 15 against Zion Benton, which they came out on top of again, winning 11 out of 12 singles and a majority of their doubles matches. The girls on the team were happy with the results, and are looking forward to the continuation of their season.
“We started off the season really strong,” junior Deena Callas said. “Getting two big wins in a row is definitely going to boost team morale looking forward. Our team is great this year, and I think we are all looking forward to growing as a team and as people.”
The team constantly looks to improve, holding morning practices often. Their next meet will be at Waukegan high school on Monday, March 20 at 4:45 pm, and their next home meet will be held the day after on Tuesday, March 21 at 4:45. The team hopes that their peers will show up and support their fellow Vikings.
