Yaris Irby, Sophomore

What is your name and grade? Yaris Irby, Sophomore.

How long have you been playing basketball/in the club? Since second grade.

What is the best memory you have from this year so far? Wednesday night against Niles West on Feb. 22 2023, when I hit the game winner making it 62-61.

What is your favorite part of playing basketball/being in the club? Big games, the adrenaline rush, and just in general  I love playing it.

How do you overcome the nerves when you’re about to compete? Having a good warm up usually calms my nerves and gets me ready.

Do you have a superstition before you compete? If people doubt us before a game, saying we will lose, we all play really well and it gives me more motivation to win.

Would you recommend anyone to try and if so why? I wouldn’t recommend it to people who play sports just to play, because you don’t have the passion to really push your limits to the maximum level. But if you play because you love it, then I would definitely recommend it.

What’s your biggest flex? A good supporting system, like my family and friends.

What’s your favorite video game? Madden.

What’s your favorite hype song? Meek Mill – Dreams and nightmares.
