Things to do in Chicago for the holidays, on a budget

Chicago winters can be brutal, but holiday celebrations and free activities almost make up for it. Here are some things to do in Chicago on a budget for the holiday season.

Christkindlmarket

The Christkindlmarket in the Daley Plaza is a great option. Admission is free, although you may purchase goods like decorations, food, and more. You can get their famous hot chocolate and enjoy cultural food. You can even catch cultural activities and family-friendly events. The market closes on Dec 24.

The Christmas tree

For over 100 years, Chicago has celebrated the holiday season with the 55-foot Christmas tree. The tree is located in Millenium park. Admission is free. The tree is decked out with thousands of twinkling lights. The tree will stay up till Jan 9.
