Is LUCKI’s new album really flawless?
On September 23, Chicago rapper LUCKI dropped his 11th album titled “FLAWLESS LIKE ME.” The album contains 22 songs with 2 bonus tracks and features from Future and Babyface Ray. The album in total has a run time of 55 minutes in total.
FLAWLESS LIKE ME reintroduces the melodic side to Chicago that artists like Juice Wrld ushered in. The overall sound is something like self-titled and Die Lit, albums by Playboi Carti. LUCKI throughout the album presents listeners with an array of vibes and sounds; A lot of the production makes it feel like you’re floating on a cloud while hard-hitting 808s smack your brain around.
LUCKI’s vocals are mellow and have that classic Young Thug, Carti, Future mumble while he does slip in some lyrical lines that always hit on beat. As far as instrumentals every one of them is different yet connected as the album really does seem like a coherent project and not a bunch of random beat switches and ideas that are polar opposites to each other, showing off his versatility with slow songs like DNA and GOODFELLAS along with some more upbeat party songs like KAPITOL DENIM.
LUCKI apart from talking about partying and flexing his money and jewels talks about his relationship with drugs and women in songs like DNA, COINCIDENCE, and MADE MY DAY.
It could be said with all the recent hype and momentum that LUCKI has received as of recent off of social media such as TikTok that this could be considered his debut album into the mainstream.
Overall the project is based on hype, sound, and replay value it’s an honest 8/10 as it appeals to new and old fans alike. The only reasons that it’s not a perfect 10 is for the fact that the album is pretty long and takes a while to really listen through especially if you have to listen through it more than once; this is along with the fact that LUCKI really hasn’t broken any barriers or shown any evolution in sound compared to older songs and albums.
