After some confusion and cancellation, Niles North’s Spring play is back!!

The Wolves has been rescheduled for May 13 and 14.

Created in 2016 by Sarah DeLappe, the play revolves around nine teenage girls and their dramas as the girls warm-up for games throughout their indoor soccer season.

It has received critical acclaim and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Now it is being directed at Niles North by theater teacher Chris Minor.

“It’s very much a fly on the wall, slice of life type of play,” Minor said. “You’re basically dropped into this place and you’re just watching people live… it’s about listening, and allowing these characters to speak the truth of their experience.”

Audiences can expect to immerse themselves in the universality of this performance.

“You [as an audience member] can find yourself, no matter how you identify, with something in every character,” Minor added. “Having a play that is written by a woman [and] features all women…I can [as a male] look at certain characters and go ‘oh that’s me,’ ‘oh I know somebody like that,’ so it just brings you closer.”

Unlike most traditional school plays, The Wolves production is current and relatable.

“It’s different from any show we’ve done yet this year- It’s very contemporary and realistic to teenagers and teenage girls who are living right now,” sophomore cast member Molly Mehr said.

There will be something for everyone, so watching the play will be a sure win.

“See it because it’s the last show of the year, [and] we put a lot of work into it! It’s gonna be a lot of fun- come support us!” senior cast member Hannah Conway said.

The performances are showing at 7 pm on Friday the 13th and at 1 pm and 4 pm on Saturday the 14th, in Niles North’s Drama Performance Center. If you want to see the show for yourself, you can get your tickets here
