Things you should know Pre- Draft (NFL Edition)
2021 has been an eventful year for the NFL to say the least. With only 9 days left until the annual draft, the league has gone through many changes since the end of the season. Currently speaking, there are a lot of stories that are still developing so it will be very interesting to see which path teams choose to take.
The draft is an event which allows NFL teams to add raw talent to their roster. The process of the draft is as follows: there are 7 rounds with 32 picks in each round. Teams are provided with a certain number of picks based on how they performed in the previous season. For example, a team that did not perform so well last season would get a higher number of picks than a team that did perform well.
As we are less then a week away from the draft, analysts are spending more time analyzing and perfecting their mock draft. A mock draft is a version of how he or she thinks the draft will go down. They predict the picks of all 32 teams, usually only in the first round, which makes sense since it is the most important round in the draft. “We know Trevor Lawrence is coming off the board at No. 1 overall. We think Zach Wilson is going No. 2 to the Jets. Beyond that, really, we don’t know all that much. And that makes the first round incredibly intriguing”, wrote Jared Dubin in his mock draft.
This year’s QB draft class in particular, faces a lot of uncertainty with their future, especially coming off of a free agency frenzy which heavily involved trades with veteran QB’s. This is making fans more eager as to see what will happen during this NFL Draft.
The draft will take place on Thursday, April 29, 2021 and will begin at 7:00pm.
