Trump’s final days in office sparks Presidential Pardon-Palooza
President Trump wrote a plethora of pardons on Wednesday night before leading office. His most high-profile recipients included Steve Bannon and rapper Lil Wayne.
Bannon was hit with charges for organizing a fraud that collected over a million dollars of money from donors who believed they were helping to fund Trump’s border wall. Lil Wayne, meanwhile, had been prosecuted for possession of a firearm.
The former president declined to pardon himself, and will almost certainly face a chaotic legal future. Trump is currently under investigation for business fraud in New York, and may also attract civil lawsuits for inciting a Capitol Hill riot before his departure from office.
