Trump, Pence’s pages on State Department site hacked
For his critics, it was a dream too good to be true. For his supporters, it was a momentary digital nightmare. A fed-up employee at the federal US Department of State published a statement on the president’s biographical webpage stating that his presidency had officially ended as of 7:48 PM on January 11.
“Donald J. Trump’s term ended on 2021-19:48:41” the page wrongly reported. Similar misinformation hit Vice President Mike Pence’s page around the same time Monday.
The department will launch an investigation into the matter in the near future. Meanwhile, both pages display an error message while the information is corrected.
