Auroris debuts their new show, “Renegade”
This past weekend, the Auroris team performed in the Niles North auditorium for their annual dance show called “Renegade.” The show’s audience experienced a rollercoaster of emotions as each dance presented a unique theme, storyline, or style.
Deanna Sortino, the director of the Auroris Dance Company, talked about her opinion of the show.
“This year we have a lot of new members on Auroris who bring diversity and a unique set of talents and creativity to the company,” Sortino said. “This is the first year we have a nationally recognized hip-hop piece from a guest artist in the show. We also have some amazing alumni pieces in the show and some stellar student choreographed pieces.”
Chris Chung, the hip-hop director of Auroris spoke about the show’s experience.
“Something I would say about the show is the variety of styles and energy in each piece,” Chung said. “There’s hints of jazz and hip-hop technique, Tik-Tok references, pieces that’ll get you sitting at the edge of your seat, that’ll get you in your feels, and will make you think and reflect, the list goes on. And one of our pieces made it to nationals so you should just come.”
Performances were at 7:00 pm on January 24-25 and were $10 a ticket and were purchased at the door. A night of monkeys, fire, and a surprise guest dancers appeared. Students grabbed their friends and got together to tan-Go to this year’s Auroris show.
