This Friday, Feb. 21, the Vikettes will be hosting their senior night and saying goodbye to the team’s most successful season ever in Niles North history.
Over the course of the 2013-2014 season, the Vikettes have successfully placed in all of their competitions, qualifying them for two state competitions as well as nationals. “This year’s members have worked hard to accomplish all their individual and team goals this year. I am proud to be their coach and it has been a wonderful experience to share these famous moments with all of them,” head coach Diana Beckman said.
However, the team isn’t ready to say goodbye just yet. Team Dance Illinois (TDI), a competitive dance competition, will be taking place on March 2, 2014 in Peoria. The Vikettes have been striving for successful, clean and hard-hitting movements within their routines this whole year and working towards perfecting their hip-hop technique; and TDI is the perfect opportunity for the team to put it all out on the floor. At TDI, the varsity Vikettes will be competing in the 3A varsity hip-hop category.
“Our team set the precedent for a fresh new face for the Vikette program and made a new name and a new reputation,” Brooke Reotutar, senior member of the varsity team, said. “I’m excited to see the program grow within the next couple of years.”
The graduating seniors include Reotutar, Alondra Robledo, Franny Fotopoulos, Paola Rojas, Jenny Steffens, Maral Ganzorig and Elli Castro. At senior night, they will be performing a dance they choreographed themselves that highlights their strengths and reflects their individual passions for dance movement.
“Each of these girls has a unique talent that was valuable to making our team special. They have been a building squad that sets higher standards for themselves,” Beckman said.
Make sure to come out and support the Vikettes at senior night and wish them good luck at TDI. Congratulations on such a great season!
